The Derby

I'm stoked to say I'm off the derby tomorrow at Anfield!
Me and Pop's try and go the game whenever we can get tickets (a lot lately as we've been playing shite!), but the home derby is THE ticket of the season.
Here's a clip highlighting some of the beauts scored over the past few years:

COYR!!!

The Fat Ones

I was just looking for something random to listen to in my iTunes, and came across 'Cannonball' by The Breeders, and as happens shit loads with me, it set me off on a big train of thought.
I (like most people I assume?) relate most music to a time/place/person, and 'Cannonball' is no exception. Cos I spent most of my teenage years skateboardin/BMXin, the music from their respective videos has influenced a lot of my taste. Its broad to say the least.
This song comes fro the 1994 Standard 'Fat Ones' video, and was the music for Joe Rich's section. I just found it now on YouTube and the visuals brought back even more memories:

The Inappropriate Language

Pretty much as soon as I set this blog up, I applied to join 'Google Adsense', not out of any misguided 'I'll make shit-loads of money' ideology, but more to see if I could workout EXACTLY how much you could earn.
Just in case you don't know, 'Google Adsense' is a scheme whereby you can have links to sites/services related to the content on your web site/blog/page, and if people use the links, you get paid. Simple.

The web is full of people claiming to make shit loads from it, and similar schemes, but when it comes to figures everyones gets vague to say the least. Hence my application.

I got a response back from Google earlier this week saying my request had not been approved:

Peek Pronto for the UK UPDATE!

Well I got a reply from Peek this avvy, but not before I'd already found the site myself (Google Master!): http://www.fon.com/en/promos/peek

MacBook HD Upgrade

Just home from visiting my G'rents after work, and I'm pleased to say that my weekend-long MacBook back-up/HD upgrade replacement/Time Machine reinstall is at last finished.
My stock 120GB HD has been full for some time now to the point where I couldn't even open my Windows/Parallels partition anymore cos there was that little space left. Something had to be done.

Peek Pronto for UK....PLEASE??

I first heard about the Peek about a few years ago whilst mooching around tech (geek) websites. Incase you don't know what one is, check here.

Although I'm a self-confessed 'gadget freak', the simplicity of function, and attractive little form had me hooked from day one. Just one little problem - no service in the UK. Gutted.

Exploring My Blogging Options

Just a mini-update to test out the BlogPress Lite app 'her indoors' recommended for posting stuff from my iPhone.

So far, so good but the proof of the pudding (app) is in the eating (posting) so I'll check my blog on a comp at lunchtime to see if this genuinely works.

FYI - the app was free - I'm a tight arse!
I've only ever paid for one app, mBox for my old hotmail accounts.

The 'Useful' Student

In my work, we get a regular stream of foreign engineering students over for 'work experience' each year. Give or take, they're generally just here to see another country and understandably have little interest in working. Accordingly, we generally ask nothing/get nothing from them.
This year however we had a good lad, Stefan from Germany, who was both interested in the work and left us with a valuable project to show for his time here. He was also a Liverpool FC fan (smart choice ;), so me and Pops took him to a few games, and of course for a few pre/post match scoops.

Although he was due to be here until March/April, he had to leave suddenly last week due to a 'family emergency' back home.

In a taxi on the way back from Anfield after a match one night, he mentioned that he was a massive Monty Python fan, and that it was one of the reasons why he was so keen to learn English (note: a firm grasp of English won't help anyone to understand some Python sketches).
Proving that despite stereotypes, German's do have a sense of humour, Stefan mentioned this as one of his favourite sketches:

I hope everything's OK back home for him, and I look forward to watchin Liverpool play shit with him again in the future!

"Fuckin knobhead!" (Private joke.)

A Nice Simple Edit

Below is a flatland edit that caught my eye on flatmattersonline.blogspot.com, featuring Marcos de Jesus and his daughter Alice.

I've always loved his quick style of riding, but this vid adds two other elements I'm impressed by; his dope spot, and a nice way to spend time with your kid.
(BTW - backyard whipped to halfhiker @ 1:31 - WTF!!!)

Were You Up Late At Night, 1990-1995?

This first post is a random one, but I suppose epitomises exactly what this blog is all about for me - documenting the stupid shit I come across that catches my interest.

Anyway, I found this clip today and not only did it remind me of the programme/time period, but the clip within the programme had me beaming with 80s nostalgia:
