This first post is a random one, but I suppose epitomises exactly what this blog is all about for me - documenting the stupid shit I come across that catches my interest.
Anyway, I found this clip today and not only did it remind me of the programme/time period, but the clip within the programme had me beaming with 80s nostalgia:
I used to regularly fall across 'In Bed With Me Dinner' in the early/mid nineties, my mid-teen years. It was one of a few shows around at the time, aimed at the 'insomniac' or 'just back from the pub' crowd, who weren't ready (or able) to go to sleep just yet.
Late night TV in general was still pretty jarg when I was young. It was only really the infancy of 24hr TV, and both BBC & ITV still occasionally used to just put Ceefax/Teletext on through the night. When you hit your teenage years and your sleeping pattern becomes more irratic, programmes like IBWMD or the classic (classically bad!) 'Gods Gift' were God sends (pun intended):
When I look back at both of these clips now it really makes me feel nostalgic for those times. Don't get me wrong, I love my life and the people in it now and wouldn't want to go back, but a glimpse of the past is sometimes interesting!
In the case of 'Gods Gift' however it reminds me that:
a) I used to fancy Davina McCall (she proper gets on my wick now), and
b) I've always had huge contempt for mainstream 'yoof' culture.
First random blog post complete, PLENTY more inane shite where that came from!
